Description
Do you want to be great at what you do? The one thing that can give you the edge, gain the advantage, set you apart and make you more effective in your role is to think critically! Then I welcome you to my course on critical thinking, developed for insurance assessors and applicable to all forms of insurance assessment. This is a valuable tool for the processing of information and has been adapted from Blooms Taxonomy and in this course is applied to the important skill of report writing. Report writing involves the steps of collecting facts, interpreting facts, asking questions about the facts and their interpretation, potentially looping back and finally reaching a conclusion. The above steps are summarized within the report as Findings, Discussion and Conclusion (summary and recommendation). We explore the stages of critical thinking and how they can be used to ensure that the evidence and facts and information collected for the assessment or investigation of insurance claims is interpreted holistically and reported on in a way that ensures all loose end are tied up and all conflicts are addressed. The stages include knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation and each step strives to take you deeper into the cognitive analysis of the claim. There are so many examples shared throughout the course and these illustrate how to use each stage of critical thinking to maximize the information you have collected and ensure that no holes can be poked in your reasoning. Every claims assessors is as good as their last report and this is why we focus on the report writing process and share so much information about how to optimize your time management and organization around this skill a well as how to integrate it in such a way that it can be used as your investigation log.
