Description
Imposter Syndrome (IS) is a phenomenon that has taken a hold of the professional world. Both men and women of all ages have dealt with a level of Imposter Syndrome within their lifetime. Within this course, we will provide an overview of Imposter Syndrome and discuss key elements of the phenomenon.We will identify and explore the meaning of Imposter Syndrome. Within that, we will be able to explore the origin of the phenomenon and discuss how widespread it has become during the present day. We will understand the common causes of IS and discuss potential impact on the individual. Through our discussion, we will also explore the relationship between IS and Anxiety, noting common symptoms and examples in the workplace. We will engage in the understanding of various strategies to help challenge IS, through lectures and activities. Students will have an opportunity to explore their own experiences with anxiety and IS and reflect on the impact had within their professional experiences. It is the hope that each student can walk away from this course with more understanding of Imposter Syndrome and how to better manage for self. It is also the hope that each student can and will be able to create a tool kit of effective coping skills to better help stress and anxiety management. Thank you and enjoy the course!
