Description
INTERNATIONALLY CERTIFIEDTHE FIRST AND ONLY COURSE OF VODOU ON UDEMYDisclaimer 1: This is a course on Theology, the nature of beliefs & practices. This is not a course to learn how to do spells and curses.Disclaimer 2: There is no animal sacrifice depicted in this course in any ceremonial video. Not all ceremonies in Vodou require an animal sacrifice, but always include offerings (food and drink, etc.). I am vegetarian and do not agree with the practice of animal sacrifice, a custom that has been part of almost every religion (including Christianity) throughout time.Vodou (Voodoo) is a religion practiced for over 5,000 years and traced back to the West Coast of Africa. So much mystery and false malignment has systematically been depicting Vodou as an evil practice filled with cursing and causing the death of others. It has been blamed throughout history for mysterious deaths and tragedy. Hollywood has produced classic movies over time depicting tribal people as evil and use Vodou to curse the "White man" with death and tragedy. Even today, it is so misunderstood that there is not even one course on UDEMY regarding the practice of Vodou. That’s hard to do. Why is it such a mystery? It has been associated with evil and I will go a step further, it has been attached to evil because it is attached to black people. People often make what it unknown to them, scary and evil. The depictions of vodou is rooted in racism. To understand others and spiritual practices, to be a more open accepting person, we have to take off the blinders and we must use our critical mind to learn the facts and make our own judgements. In belief systems, we often adopt the beliefs of our parents and they theirs before them. Today we have so much more access to knowledge and information that reveals misconceptions and untruths, and truths themselves. We now can see videos on such things our ancestors could not. In this course, I teach through storytelling and sharing my own practice with Vodou and study. I am not a Mambo, I am one touched by the beauty of this practice and a person who has incorporated some of its practices into my daily healing practice. This is an introductory look into Vodou. If you need charts, pies and analytics, this may not be the course for you. In this course I will be sharing ceremony practices, music, names of LWA (spirits) and their meaning as well as the reason Catholic Saints have been used to represent them, spiritual tools used, herbalism in Vodou (hoodoo) and its difference from Vodou, what draws someone to Vodou, discussion on curses and dark uses and its roots and misconceptions. See the curriculum for teh syllabus line up of lecture discussion. If you do not have an open mind or curiosity to unlearn your misconceptions this may not be the course for you. Warning: You may have to unlearn what you think you know and be open to art and visuals that may scare you because you have never seen them before or do not understand them yet. There is nothing scary here.
