(Excerpt from Chapter 8)

… How does one command confidence? How do we command acceleration? How do we choose a direction for our momentum? To a great extent it depends upon our interpretation of data…
…When we hit the water we will experience at least two things; 1) neurosensory feedback from our skin and body relating to the impact upon entry, and 2) internal neurochemical fractal waves setting up feedback loops of a variety of thoughts and emotions, including relief, exhilaration, joy, satisfaction, pride, etc. If we have enough of this data filling our bandwidth, the water up our nose and the pain from our belly flop will be muted and overridden by the brain.
Confidence allows us to rehearse and facilitate the act of diving, and potentially allows us to minimize the real physical pain associated with an unsuccessful performance. Confidence also primes our mind to interpret the neurosensory data we are about to perceive as pleasure and to tune in the pleasure data and tune out the pain, if any, that we experience.
When we utilize confidence to interpret applied work to our mind / body fractal as pleasure, then we will become confident and create forward momentum. This is true with diving and doing flips, and it’s true with working and studying and taking tests and making grades.
We can control data. We can control the interpretation of data. We can anticipate data and control its interpretation before it is even received.
We can move forward to gather data. We can pull back to avoid data. We can change direction and move side to side.
Depression, confidence: backward, forward. Questions, answers: side to side. The anticipation and the interpretation of data is our mechanism of four dimensional control to maneuver through the space time continuum. It’s our joystick, appropriately named, not our depression stick or collision stick, or "wipe out" stick or panic stick or fear stick, or any other misnomer.
You Can’t Bend a Spoon, but You CAN Bend the Universe . . . is an awakening to the fascinating possibilities of super human intelligence and human potential brought about by modern developments in our understanding of neuroscience and nonlinear mathematics. There are patterns all around us, patterns that we can use to understand ourselves and patterns we can use to understand some of the world’s most intractable problems and fashion practical and workable solutions
It’s all here in one book. A doorway to the cutting edge of what is known about our universe, our place within it, where science has brought us, and where we could potentially go. This book is full of new concepts, back to back, every chapter, practically every page. This book is for those individuals who have truly become "aware" of life, who question, who are fully fascinated by the interconnections of all things and who are willing to pursue life’s full meaning; this is a treasure chest, waiting to be opened. Turn the page to be amazed!
You Can’t Bend a Spoon, but You CAN Bend the Universe will change how you or your child sees the world. It will open doors that you didn’t know existed, and it will serve as catalyst to a journey of epic discovery that will last a lifetime.
