English | 2022 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B0BBRZGJ4N | 275 pages | EPUB | 0.28 Mb
The volume is a concise introduction to political philosophy, presented through its concepts, problems and main theories. The first part of the book traces a map of some of the fundamental questions that political philosophy has tried to answer in the course of its long history: what is the best political order, what relations are there between morality and politics, on the one hand? , and between politics and force, on the other hand, what is the nature of political action.
In the second part of the book, four paradigms of political thought are presented that have profoundly marked its history: the paradigm of the polis (Plato and Aristotle), that of the comparison between the city of man and the city of God (from Augustine and Thomas to the Reformation) , that of the social contract (Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Kant), and that of the dialectic between state and society, seen as a terrain of conflict between liberals who insist on the limits of the state (such as Constant, Tocqueville and Mill) and the critics of liberalism like Hegel and Marx.
In the third part some fundamental political concepts are illustrated (freedom and liberalism, socialism and democracy), an overview of the main theoretical options (from Rawls to Habermas) that compete for the field in contemporary discussion is outlined, to finally arrive at the new themes with the political philosophy confronts today, from globalization to bio politics.in this book you will study all the models of political philosophy.Territories and questions of political philosophy.Civil society and the state.
