Danish Gambit: How to Win in Chess Openings by Tim Sawyer
English | 2022 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B0B726Q9F1 | 165 pages | EPUB | 4.20 Mb
If you’re looking for an exciting and challenging opening, the Danish Gambit may be just the thing for you! The Danish Gambit begins with 1.e4 e5 2.d4 exd4 3.c3. White plans rapid piece development in exchange for a pawn or two. This book gives you 50 wins that illustrate typical tactics and strategies for the White pieces.
White has two options after Black accepts with 3…dxc3.
First, White can choose the Half Danish with 4.Nxc3. This could transpose to the Goring Gambit after 4…Nc6 5.Nf3 although 5.Bc4 is a natural continuation.
Second, White can go for the Full Danish with 4.Bc4 cxb2 5.Bxb2. The bishops aim at the critical squares of f7 and g7. Black faces a potentially dangerous attack.
The Danish Gambit is a risky but potentially rewarding chess opening for White. It can lead to fierce, complicated positions where Black has many opportunities to go wrong.
I pick two key positions from each game for a diagram. My plan is for you to browse through the book, look at the diagrams and read the comments with ease.
From time to time, I add a line of analysis. You may wish to work out some of those lines in your head, or just note that there was an alternative way to play and keep reading.
I played chess for 50 years. I have written over 100 books. This book comes as a request from one of my readers.
I assume that you can read algebraic chess notation. The diagrams have White at the bottom of the board. Thank you for reading my books. I hope you enjoy this one!
